Couture Golds is different from last years 5 Golds in that it’s more of a sheer, less brassy mix of gold. The colors all blend seamlessly together and all worked well, basically melting onto your lid. I really had to pack in the dark brown color, the other shades being so frosty really seemed to soak up the pigment of the non-frosty dark brown. Layering a little heavier should fix this issue, if you’re going for a deeper look. You could also add a darker base before applying this palette to really make the golds pop.
A quick eye look using Couture Golds. I did this without my contacts in, so it’s not as smoky as I likely would have gone had I been able to see lol I was erring on the side of caution here 😉 Next time, I’ll build up the darker brown more in the crease and add in MAC Avenue Fluidline to really make it smolder 😉 This eye look is a good way to showcase how neutral this palette can look, even though it looks like it could only be used for festive times.
The Dior Couture Golds 5 Couleurs Eye Shadow Palette retails for $59.00. I haven’t seen this in store at all, even though the other holiday items have been released for awhile. Currently (as of this blog post) it IS available at the Neiman Marcus website. If you want it, I suggest you hurry. This item is limited edition.
