For the previous post of Makeup Wars we dove head first into Fall with our Favorite Fall Nail Polishes.  Now, bringing it back to makeup, we’re showcasing the lips and the most confident color around – RED.

As you can tell from the photo above… my red lip issues are slightly out of hand.  This photo represents only what I could quickly grab… if I’d actually go through my stash I’d be sure to find at least double.  Clearly, I love a red lip almost as much as a nude and neutral lip.

Of course, Chanel Dragon Rouge Allure Laque is my favorite.  It has been a part of my stash since the announcement to discontinue it (what.the.eff.) and on my lemming list well before that.  It’s rich, saturated, and powerful.  Everything a red lip SHOULD be.  The doe-foot applicator is my favorite and helped to apply Dragon opaquely all over the lip.

The formula isn’t a stay-the-day type, but leaves a very slight staining on the lips, and really isn’t difficult to reapply (though, let’s not try to kid ourselves, you will need a mirror).

If you’re interested in seeing more pics of Chanel Dragon Rouge Allure Laque, here is the link to my original swatches and review.  Below are some quick pics of swatches and a photo of the product… these swatches do differ slightly from the original review, as I have a new camera and I’m sure the lighting was different.  Color wise, the photos below are more accurate.

  1. I too absolutely adored Dragon and was sad to see it discontinued! I recently tried the new Lacquer Rouge by Shiseido and shade RD607 Nocturne is a very close dupe, the texture is also very similar. You should definitely check them out :-)

    • thank you for the tip! I’m sure I’ll run out of this, I’m always reaching for it. It’s good to know there are products that are close!
