At some point, you’ve needed a 5 minute face. Maybe you woke up late, maybe you forgot that you needed to be somewhere, maybe you’re a mom and just don’t have the time to focus for more than a few minutes…. In any event, you’re stepping out the door and don’t want to actually look like you just rolled your tired booty out of that warm, comfy bed.
This week for Makeup Wars we’re focusing on the 5 Minute Face. Guaranteed to make you look presentable since 2013.
For my 5 Minute Face I focus mostly on the eyes, because generally that’s what people see first. You’ll also want to start with your eyes, just in case you need to clean anything up before you work on your face. Who has time to redo the face? Not me!
You really can’t go wrong with a basic eye palette. I tend to always reach for Urban Decay Naked Basics when I’m on the run. It’s got six fail-safe neutrals that you can quickly pop on the eye to open them up.
To amp up the basic eye I add on a brown, neutral liner like Urban Decay 24-7 Glide-On Eye Pencil in Hustle. These are great because you have time to smudge them a bit (so you don’t need to worry about that precise line) but they’ll also set and last all day long.
Finish up your eye look with 2 coats of mascara. Lately I’ve been all over MAC In Extreme Dimension Lash (shown). And, of course, brush on a clear brow gel. One of my faves is NARS Oural Brow Gel. You want clear just for grooming, as a tinted (unless your brows are thick and lovely) could get messy if you’re rushing.
Next reach for a powder foundation. My absolute favorite is IT Cosmetics Celebration Foundation. It buffs on easily, blends in perfectly and lasts all day long. The coverage is superb and hides a multitude of sins.
Make your face come alive and your skin look glowy with a luminescent, pinky peach blush like Benefit Rockateur. This is a “rose gold” cheek powder with understated shimmer that will wake you up and add much needed color to your face.
Finally, a glossy and sheer lip. You don’t want to choose a lip product that takes any kind of time. This means toss all things bright, deep and vampy out of your mind for this day. Those colors take prep… precision… lip liners… they rely on the execution to look good. Those are things we don’t have time for. You want to literally be able to run out the door while applying this and know it looks okay without even checking a mirror. One of my faves (shown) is Marc Jacobs Heart Shaped Lust For Lacquer Lip Vinyl.

That it Cosmetics foundation is my all-time favorite powder, but always takes a back seat to my liquid foundations. Will definitely have to remember it next time I’m under a time crunch!

The It Celebration I have is too dark. I need to see if there’s a lighter one. Your look sounds beautiful. I want to see the Benefit in person now.
